The short answer
Pet aftercare services generally include collection, temporary care, cremation, ashes handling and optional farewell or memorial arrangements. Service scope and transparency vary widely. Before booking, check whether the quotation is itemised, the process is clearly explained and written records are provided.
PPSG offers individual and communal cremation arrangements. Contact by phone or WhatsApp +852 2323 2432 24 hours a day. Service scope, timing and fees are confirmed in writing case by case.
What do pet aftercare services include?
A complete aftercare service generally covers:
- Collection: from your home or veterinary clinic. Confirm the service area, estimated arrival window, whether transport is included and any extra charges.
- Temporary care: how and where your pet is kept before cremation, and how identity is tracked.
- Cremation: individual or communal. Confirm the type, expected date and whether you can attend.
- Ashes return: individual cremation usually allows ashes to be returned; communal cremation generally does not. Confirm the identity check, expected return date, container and collection or delivery method.
- Farewell and memorials: optional. Choose according to your family's wishes and budget.
Compare individual versus communal cremation and use the ashes handover checklist.
Individual or communal cremation
This is the most important decision.
- Individual cremation: dedicated service for one pet; ashes usually returned; attendance may be booked. PPSG rates from HK$1,300; final fee confirmed case by case.
- Communal cremation: simpler process; dedicated ashes generally not returned. PPSG rates from HK$1,000; final fee confirmed case by case.
Do not compare only the two starting prices. If keeping ashes matters to you, make that the first priority.
Six checks when choosing a provider
- Itemised quotation: request separate details for collection, cremation, container, attendance and extras.
- Clear process: the provider should explain every step, identity tracking and ashes matching.
- Separate timing: ask when collection, cremation and return will happen, and when attendance can be booked.
- Recent reviews: read specific descriptions of communication, facilities and handover.
- Change terms: ask about changing the plan, postponing a ceremony or cancelling the service.
- Complete records: check the company name, address, receipt and follow-up contact.

Common misunderstandings
- "24-hour service" means you can contact the provider any time; it does not guarantee immediate arrival or same-day cremation.
- "All-inclusive" definitions vary. Request an itemised list.
- Starting price is not the final fee; actual cost depends on weight, location and selected services.
- Star rating alone is not enough. Read detailed recent reviews.

How to enquire
Prepare your pet's type and weight, district, whether you want ashes returned or to attend, and preferred collection time. Give the same information to two or three providers to compare fairly. Confirm collection, cremation type, ashes handling and the written total first.
